Jewell Library Services has launched a new discovery platform through EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS). The purpose for the new system is to improve the research experience. Now you can more easily find the data you are looking for. By positioning information or popular research content at the top of search results in EDS, users can quickly connect with the right information for their research and remove the guesswork of searching. Also included in EDS are Research Starters--a type of custom placard offered in EDS. Placards also provide links to citable, authoritative summary articles for thousands of popular research topics. Additionally EDS allows for direct journal and database title searching. For example, searching for “nature,” the featured database/journal placard for the journal Nature will appear in the EDS results, guiding users to research topics within that specific journal. Similar functionality exists for users looking for specific databases.

Functionality in EDS also includes 'one-click' access to Full-Text articles and books. It also indexes and displays results from the print book catalog and the WorldCat catalog. We've also simplified the Inter-Library Loan process. Now there is just one link in EDS to request a title through Inter-Library Loan.
